My belief in the position of Sheriff

Being Sheriff is more than a title — it’s a responsibility to lead by example and model the values you expect of your deputies in order to best serve the community. If elected, I will ensure that the Sheriff’s Office reflects the values of the community while keeping public safety at the forefront of everything we do.

As Sheriff, I promise to uphold the following:

Professionalism: Setting the standard for excellence in law enforcement through training, conduct, and service.

Respect: Showing respect to citizens, staff, and other agencies fosters stronger relationships.

Courage: Standing up for what is right, making tough calls in dangerous or politically difficult situations.

Excellence: Striving to improve every day, never settling for “good enough” when it comes to serving our county.

Integrity: Leading by example, making decisions guided by honesty and doing what’s right, not what’s easy.

Accountability: The ability to admit when we are wrong and to swiftly address where we have failed in order to correct the issue at hand and be a better agency moving forward for our community.

Compassion: Recognizing the human side of law enforcement by treating all people with dignity, fairness, and respect.

Problem-Solving: Tackling root causes of crime – like addiction or mental health issues – through partnerships, not just arrests.

Adaptability: Embracing innovation, new technologies, and evolving community needs.

Accessibility: Being a sheriff who people can reach, not hidden away out of sight.

Community Engagement: Being approachable, visible, and actively listening to citizens’ concerns.

Transparency: Open communication with the public about policies, budgets, and use of resources.
Leadership: Leading from the front, supporting deputies, and making decisions that reflect the best interests of the agency and community we serve.
