Plans for the future
I am a firm believer in setting goals and working diligently to achieve them. Without a clear direction, it’s easy to lose sight of what you set out to achieve. Below are just a few of the many goals I have committed to if elected Sheriff.
Increasing Our Mental Health Services — Mental health services at both the patrol and corrections level are crucial. If you are able to address a problem at the outset and provide individuals with resources, it becomes much less likely that individuals in crisis will engage in criminal conduct. This reduction in criminality reduces the workload for our officers and corrections staff, allowing them to better serve our community. As Sheriff, I would work to expand mental health care as a preventative measure to better serve the common good.

Continuing to Support Community Outreach — Community outreach plays a vital role in creating and strengthening positive connections with the public. I want the people of Hancock County to know that they can count on the Sheriff’s Office on the good days as well as the bad, and to remember that we’re your friends and neighbors. To that end, I pledge to expand our outreach programs, encouraging our deputies to get out into the community and be a presence at charity events, school functions, and town halls. If we are here to serve the community, we should be an integral part of the community.
Leading From The Front — As Sheriff, I won’t ask any of our deputies to do something that I’m not willing to do myself. I pledge that my administration and I will work a minimum of one night shift a month at no added cost to the taxpayers; that means ‘boots on the ground’ covering calls for service. To be a good leader, you have to be out there with your people experiencing the job firsthand, and the same goes for being a good servant of the public. If I’m elected, don’t be surprised to see me showing up to handle your call for service. Evolving with our community — To me, evolving with our community holds just as much importance as any other priority. Acknowledging our past is essential to understanding our present. We must reflect, learn, and move forward. The world continues to change and evolve considerably. It is important that we recognize those changes and adapt the way we conduct ourselves accordingly; it is called the Sheriff’s OFFICE for a reason. It is an elected office by the people, and as our community and those people evolve with time, we are no different.
